Police in Devon have asked a “budding gardener” to come forward and claim their crop - after dozens of cannabis plants were found growing in the woods.

Officers who are part of the Ashburton and Chudleigh Police team followed a hash trail through trees which led them to the illegal grow.

They posted a picture of the pot plants on their Facebook page, urging the owner to come and collect them from the police station.

Cannabis is a Class B drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and cultivation of it is illegal.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are investigating after a discovery of dozens of suspected cannabis plants growing in woodland near Linhay Quarry, Ashburton, on Tuesday 2 June.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CR/044576/20.
