Two people killed in fatal collision near Launceston

A Cornish man and woman, who were both in their 60s, have died in a collision near Launceston.

Emergency services were called to the A388 near the Lezant turn off at 10am on Wednesday 13 May following reports of a crash involving a minibus and a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV).

The woman from Callington and man from the Liskeard area were both traveling in the minibus, and died at the scene.

Three other people also traveling in the minibus sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the HGV, a man in his 60s from the St Austell area, was uninjured. He will attend a voluntary attendance interview in due course.

The road was closed for several hours to allow for the safe recovery of both vehicles, and for a thorough investigation to be conducted.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses or those with information to get in touch on 101, quoting log 232 3/6/20.
