Man remains in hospital with suspected head injury after reportedly 'jumping' off sea wall onto Torquay beach

The man in his 30s reportedly "jumped" off the sea wall.

A man remains in hospital after he reportedly "jumped" from a sea wall onto a beach in Torquay.

Police officers were called to Torre Abbey Sands Beach at around 4.30pm on Saturday (30 May).

Several members of the public reported that a man had "jumped off a wall into a shallow water" and allegedly "misjudged the depth of the water".

Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police along with crew members from HM Coastguard and South Western Ambulance Service attended the scene.

Devon Air Ambulance was also despatched.

It's alleged the man "misjudged" the depth of the water.

The man involved is in his 30s and was taken to Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust by ambulance.

It is understood he suffered a head injury, but his current condition is unknown.

It is also believed he was being transferred to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital once his condition was stable enough.
