Six teenagers rescued by Plymouth RNLI after becoming cut off by the tide

RNLI volunteers in Plymouth rescued six teenagers - after another young person shared their struggles on social media.

The "trapped" teenagers were found near Sharrow Beach, in south east Cornwall, after they had been cut off by the tide.

A parent of one of the teenagers saw the post but couldn't contact their child and as a result dialled 999 and asked for the Coastguard.

The RNLI volunteer crew managed to later locate the teenagers and bring them back to safety.

The news come as Police and the RNLI have advised people to "avoid the sea".

Surf magazine Carve have reiterated that advice saying: "A large swell arriving with a combination of spring tides and good weather is forecast to hit south facing beaches of England and Wales on Friday afternoon.

"With no lifeguard cover and a loosening of lockdown restrictions this could be recipe for disaster."
