Firefighters in Devon and Somerset faced almost 250 wildfires last week
Firefighters in Devon and Somerset had to deal with almost 250 wildfires last week.
This is more than double the number attended during the same period last year.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service blamed the warm, dry weather, combined with the lockdown.
Firefighters were called to a total of 244 incidents over the course of seven days.
The fire service is asking people not to start fires on moorland, commons or grass across the two counties or engage in behaviour that could inadvertently lead to a blaze, including dropping cigarettes and disposing of barbecues.
