The 47-year-old's videos have even come to the attention of daytime host Lorraine, who spoke to him live into her programme on Good Morning Britain on 18 May,
The 47-year-old says he initially set himself the challenge of recording a song every day during a period of isolation, which he described as "finding really difficult".
He said: "Music sort of helped me - it took me on a bit of a journey and suddenly it seemed that I was connecting with people all across the world and that was bizarre."
TV host Lorraine Kelly took to Twitter to thank PC Tim for appearing on her morning show.
And the celebrity endorsement has not stopped there.
A-list Hollywood actress Susan Sarandon, who played Janet in the original movie, said that she "fainted" after watching the video during isolation in New York.
Tim has been a serving police officer for 18 years and has performed on stage with local amateur groups for most of that time.
He played Fagin in Oliver Twist at Cheltenham's Everyman Theatre and Sweeney Todd at the Cheltenham Playhouse - but this recent performance has given him huge satisfaction.
He now has more than 123,000 followers on Facebook, where PC Tim has now posted several other songs.
But his cop-car karaoke number remains the most popular number and received almost 2,500 comments from admiring viewers.
