Busy Dartmoor car parks close amid fears social distancing cannot safely be observed

Several car parks have closed to ensure people can stick to social distancing.

A number of busy Dartmoor car parks have been closed to members of the public because of fears social distancing cannot be observed.

An email sent out by the Dartmoor ranger team today (Saturday 15 May) said car parks in the Haytor, Postbridge and Newbridge area would close from 1:30pm because of overcrowding.

It's so they can ensure people are able to stick to the social distancing guidelines.

It comes on the first weekend after Boris Johnson announced measures to ease the coronavirus lockdown.

People in England have been told they can travel unlimited distances to exercise - which has prompted fears from tourism bosses in the West Country that this will result in an influx of visitors.
