Bin-men rescue deer from bottle bank in Exeter

Bin men in Exeter came to the rescue of a young deer after it got stuck upside-down behind a bottle bank in Cowick Lane.

The workers from Exeter City Council were alerted to the animal by a member of the public getting rid of her empties.

The young deer was able to run off, non-the-worse from the experience after being lifted out of the tight space by the workers.

David Bartram, Director responsible for Waste Operations, said: "They were quick to help out and that sums up the attitudes of our refuse and recycling workers who continue to carry out their duties during these difficult times."
