Woman shocked as big black cat walks towards her in countryside near Bristol

A woman who was out walking her dog near her home in Hucclechurch says she was shocked to see what she believes was a large black cat.

Lynda Elliott says she enjoys spotting wildlife in the fields near her home in Emerson's Green but normally only sees deer. The 54 year old civil servant says the animal was 'the size of black Labrador.'

Lynda says was even more shocked when the creature picked up her scent and began to walk towards her. She says she didn't realise how close she was to the animal she spotted, until she noticed it hunting.

Experts say sightings could be more frequent as wildlife returns to urban areas during lockdown.

Lynda stayed and watched on looking at the big cat jumping and pouncing in the long grass.
