Camper van owner fined and sent home for travelling from Bristol to Devon

Police have fined a camper van owner who drove from Bristol to camp overnight at a Devon beauty spot over the weekend.

Lynton Police issued the fine for a breach of the Covid-19 regulations and sent the 'unhappy camper' back home.

The van was parked on Trentishoe Common near Combe Martin - a spot known for its fantastic views.

Devon and Cornwall police officers, working with Dartmoor National Park rangers, said they were 'disappointed' at people driving 'a long way' this past weekend.

It comes as new Devon County Council statistics show a big rise in people taking to the roads despite the ongoing nationwide lockdown.
