Staff at drive-through COVID testing centre for key workers in Gloucestershire say they're 'busy but not overwhelmed'
Staff at a coronavirus testing centre for key workers in Gloucestershire say they've been able to keep up with demand despite millions more people being eligible for tests.
The centre at the Edward Jenner Court in Brockworth is run by the Gloucestershire NHS Trust for key workers only.
It was set up on April 1st and has the capacity to test thousands of NHS staff. On some days appointments have been booked every 10 minutes but as of yet staff say they've been able to test everyone and sometimes are getting results back quicker than the 72 hour estimate.
One key worker who arrived for her test had been off work for a few days with symptoms of coronavirus.
After being triaged through the NHS 111 service she was then booked an appointment at the testing centre in Brockworth.
Once she arrived she was called into a parking bay where a member of staff - in full PPE - came out to test her through the window of her car.
The test involves two swabs taken from people. One is from the nose and one from the back of the throat. These are two areas where the virus is replicating in people's bodies.

The Gloucestershire NHS Trust says it hopes the tests will mean key workers can get back to work as soon as possible.
