Daughter describes 'heartbreaking' experience with her father battling coronavirus in Weston General
A man with coronavirus who was given a 'fifty-fifty' chance of survival is making a slow recovery, says his daughter who described the ordeal as 'heartbreaking'.
Stacey Gregory's father, Mark, has been in intensive care at Weston General Hospital for more for more than three weeks after being diagnosed with Covid-19.
The 58-year-old also contracted pneumonia and a bacterial infection - but is now stable and has the ability to make small movements.
However his family are still unable to see him.
Prior to being admitted to hospital, Stacey said her dad was feeling very unwell - coughing, with bad headaches and shivering.
He was also struggling to breath and was unable to finish a sentence, at which point an ambulance was called.
Her dad was tested for coronavirus when he was taken into the ICU and got a positive result.
At the moment he is using dialysis and last week he had three blood transfusions to help his immune system.
Since then, Mr Gregory has been making small improvements like attempting to open his eyes and his blood pressure is stabilising.
