Dorset police issue 255 fines to those breaching coronavirus lockdown restrictions
Dorset Police has issued 255 fines to those who have allegedly breached coronavirus restrictions in the past month.
The fixed penalty notices were all issued in the county between March 27 and April 29.
Several of the fines have been given to people who have travelled from other parts of the country and into Dorset for non-essential travel.
Officers say they have stopped and spoken to thousands of people since lockdown restrictions were introduced.
Examples have included three people who had travelled down from Surrey to look at nature.
Also, a group of four people who had driven from Slough to walk at Durdle Door.
They also fined someone who had travelled from Nottingham to visit Lulworth Cove.
National statistics published show that 8,877 on-the-spot fines for alleged breaches of the lockdown laws were issued across England between Friday 27 March and Monday 27 April 2020.
Martyn Underhill, the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner said he is disappointed that some members of the public aren't sticking to lockdown restrictions.
