Police being spat and coughed at says Exeter officer

Police officers are being spat and coughed at by members of the public.

Devon and Cornwall Police has warned the behaviour is unacceptable.

In a video message posted on Twitter, Exeter Patrol Sergeant Dan Brenchley says officers have had a number of people coughing and spitting in their faces and then claiming to be infected with COVID-19.

The video is part of the force's Unacceptable campaign which was launched following a number of incidents where officers have been abused during the pandemic.
