'Several' residents die at care home in Devon following coronavirus outbreak
There have been 'several' deaths at a care home in Devon, following a coronavirus outbreak.
It has been reported that both residents and staff have been affected at Primley Court Care Home in Paignton.
The exact number of deaths has not been revealed, however Optima Care, which runs the home, has confirmed that 'several' residents have died.
Various groups - including Public Health England South West and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust - are working with the home to contain the outbreak.
It is currently closed to visitors.
In a joint statement, Torbay Council and Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust said:
Last week it was reported that multiple residents had died following a coronavirus “outbreak” at a care home in Cornwall, again the exact figure was not known.
ITV News understands up to 13 people had died as a result of Covid-19 at Roseland Court care home in Tregony.
A joint statement put out by Cornwall Council and Public Health England confirmed “a number of residents” at the care home had died after testing positive for the virus.
