Former Flybe pilot back behind the wheel of a delivery truck after airline's collapse

A former Flybe pilot who had only been flying for 13 months before the company collapsed is now back behind the wheel of a Tesco delivery truck.

After saving up around £100,000, Aaron Leventhal undertook 10 years of pilot training in Bristol and Gloucestershire.

But after just 13 months at Flybe the company fell into administration.

Aaron discovered his love for flying when he joined the air cadets in Bristol at the age of 13.

He began working as an HGV driver in order to fund his pilot training.

Aaron worked 14-hour days as a driver and studied on his days off.

He achieved his licence in 2018 before securing a job with Exeter-based Flybe - but just 13 months later the company collapsed into administration.

The former pilot kept his HGV licence valid, meaning he was able to secure a job driving lorries for Tesco.

The 36-year-old former pilot’s rating licence is due to be renewed on April 30. However, with the training centres being closed, his licence is goingto expire.

Despite his recent setbacks, Aaron remains positive.
