Driver fined for trying to make a 300-mile round trip to Bristol during lockdown
A driver has been fined by police after attempting to make a 300-mile round trip to visit a relative in Bristol during the coronavirus lockdown.
Officers from Thames Valley Police pulled the car over on the M4 near Reading on Saturday night (April 18).
In the car was a family from London, who were driving to Bristol to see a relative who officers say could have been contacted on the phone.
Four people inside the car were issued with fines, while the driver - who police said was hogging the middle lane and had no insurance - was reported.
In previous weekends during the lockdown, police stopped a tourist from Birmingham in a motorhome at the Devon-Somerset border while a group of climbers from Bristol were sent back to the West Country after attempting to climb a mountain in Wales.
