Devon nurse Beth Porch gets standing ovation on Britain’s Got Talent

A nurse from Devon has sailed through to the next round of Britain’s Got Talent after stunning the judges with an emotional performance.

Beth Porch, who has been working on the frontline against coronavirus at a hospital in London, made her appearance on the ITV talent competition on Saturday (April 18) night.

The 25-year-old performed an original song called ‘You Taught Me What Love Is’, which she wrote to reflect the difficulties and challenges of working on a children’s ward.

Her audition stunned the four judges, who gave Beth a standing ovation.

Beth, who watched Saturday’s audition while working a night shift, has since released her track - and it has reached number four in the UK music charts.

Posting on Instagram, the nurse - who has also had coronavirus and since recovered - wrote: “Life doesn't get much more surreal than watching yourself on TV, in a spare cubicle whilst you're working a night shift.

“My phone is blowing up right now. My song 'You Taught Me What Love Is' is available for download and streaming now! All profits donated to NHS Charities and the GOSH Charity.”

She added in a later post: “My life has completely changed in the past 24 hours, yet nothing has changed at all.

“I never even dreamed that my music would reach so many people.”
