Somerset and Dorset fire crews tackle roof fire at a manor house

Fire crews from across Somerset and Dorset are tackling a fire at a manor house this afternoon [6 April].

A total of 11 fire engines and upwards of 60 firefighters are at the scene trying to extinguish the fire.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service shared footage of crews fighting the fire at the house, which lies between Dorchester and Yeovil.

Crews are trying to minimise damage to the building.

The house is reported to be unoccupied.

At around 2:30pm, Maiden Newton Fire Station confirmed on social media that fire crews were still dampening the area and locating hot spots.
