Bristol's inland surfing lake 'The Wave' latest site to shut down during coronavirus outbreak

The UK's first inland surfing lake has been forced to close just five months after opening in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Wave, in Easter Compton in Bristol, opened in October last year - with state-of-the-art technology allowing people to surf away from the coast year-round.

However the £25 million attraction will close its doors from the end of today [March 19] until at least May to stop the spread of the virus.

A spokesperson for the company said that it was a difficult decision made in 'unprecedented times', and that they plan to reopen as soon as it's safe to do so.
