Two year-old Maisie made history by becoming the first of her breed to be awarded the coveted prize.
The Wire-Haired Dachshund and owner Kim McCalmont, a head teacher from Stone near Berkeley, delighted a packed arena as they beat six other finalists.
Shortly after they had received their trophy and rosette, Maisie was trotting around the stage when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Kim was left shaking her head as she reached for a bag in her pocket, removed the poo and continued the victory lap to huge applause.

Kim and husband Duncan hand reared Maisie because her mother died after giving birth to her and 11 siblings.
Maisie is one of more than 21 Dachshund dogs that live with the couple at their home.
Kim and Duncan cracked the formula for winning Crufts by traveling all the way to America and Brazil in the quest to improve their Dachshund bloodline.
Duncan said: “I was concerned about how narrow the Dachshund blood lines were in the UK. So I reached out to the breeder exhibitor Liz Heywood in Ohio and she helped us, as did Carlos and Patricia Pedrosa Netto in Curitiba, South Brazil.”
