Fundraising page set up to repair Bristol's College Green after climate strike

A fundraising page set up to repair College Green in Bristol after Greta Thunberg's appearance at a youth strike has raised nearly £13,000.

Thousands of people gathered in the rain to listen to Swedish teenager and climate activist Greta Thunberg deliver a heartfelt message about the need to take action against climate change.

Bristol man Jon Usher set up the page and urged everyone who attended the rally to donate £1 to restore the patch of grass outside City Hall.

The cost to repair any damage to the land will fall to Bristol City Council.

So far nearly £13,000 has been donated to the cause, which is more than half of the £20,000 target.

Mr Usher has taken to social media to help spread the word, using the hashtag #TurnCollegeGreenGreenAgain.
