Fowey bus shelter gets a Valentine's Day makeover

A bus shelter in Fowey in Cornwall has been transformed with a loving touch in time for Valentine's Day.

The bus stop has been kitted out with red roses, hearts, candles and even a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate the most loving day of the year. Although the bottle is probably empty, the makeover certainly makes waiting for a bus a whole lot more interesting.

At the centre of the transformation - written on a giant red heart - is one of the most romantic quotes of recent years. It is taken from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks, which was made into a blockbuster film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.

The bus stop in Fowey is famous for its makeovers. It all started in 2006 when one of the residents, Jane Tinsley, was so fed up with vandalism that she gave it a Moroccan-style decor and furnishings to discourage anti-social behaviour.

She won the approval of the town council and the bus shelter now regularly gets a new look. Themes have included turning it into a cafe, creating a tribute to local author Daphne du Maurier as well as surfing and even Winnie the Pooh.

Who knows what they will come up with next?
