Police praise bravery of rape victim as Bristol attacker jailed for 12 years

Police have praised the bravery of a rape victim whose attacker has been jailedfor 12 years after admitting multiple counts of rape.

Dominic Shakespeare, 44, threatened his victim with a sword before repeatedly attacking her over a number of hours at a property in Bristol in July last year.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault at Bristol Crown Court last month and was jailed for 12 years today (Thursday, 6 February).

Shakespeare was also handed a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his victim indefinitely.
