Man arrested on suspicion of murder after caravan fire in Devon village
Police have started a murder investigation after a man was found dead following a caravan fire in East Devon.
Officers were called to a scrapyard in Newton Poppleford after members of the public reported a fire and raised concerns about the welfare of a man.
When emergency services arrived to the scene, a man in his 40s was pronounced dead.
His next of kin have been informed.
Officers from the Major Crime Investigating Team are currently in the initial stages of the investigation.
A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in police custody.
Police forensic teams are expected to remain on scene for a number of days.
