All services cancelled at Efford Crematorium in Plymouth following fire on New Year's Eve
All funeral services have been cancelled at Plymouth's Efford Crematorium following a fire which broke out on New Year's Eve.
Plymouth City Council says it is trying to make alternative arrangements for those who already had services planned. Next week 29 services have already been rearranged.
The fire broke out in the roof of the building just after 12:30pm on 31st December. Emergency crews used an aerial platform to fight the blaze. No one was inside the building at the time of the fire.
An investigation is underway into the cause of the blaze.
All services planned for today (Thursday January 2nd) and Friday have been rearranged.
There is only one other crematorium in the city, at Weston Mill. This will provide more services until repairs are finished at Efford.
