Plymouth named Europe's best holiday destination in 2020
Plymouth has been named the best holiday destination in Europe for 2020 by a luxury travel magazine.
Its also been awarded second best holiday destination in the world - beating Kyoto in Japan, Paris and Kangaroo Island in Australia
Conde Nast Traveller praised the city for its art galleries and restaurants.Its catalogue of cultural events was also a factor - including this year's 400th Mayflower anniversary commemorations.
The magazine admits the choice of Plymouth may appear "somewhat surprising" given its travel editors had all the world to choose from but the city's catalogue of cultural events planned over the next few years has given the place an added buzz.
