Man charged with possession of offensive weapons following police evacuation in Bristol
A 38-year-old man has been charged with four offences including making an explosive substance.
Daniel Magee, of Shetland Road, was arrested following searches made at a house in the Southmead area of Bristol that lead to a police evacuation.
He has now been charged with the four offences relating to possessing offensive weapons:
Making an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose
Possessing a weapon for the discharge of a noxious liquid/gas/electrical incapacitation device/thing
Possessing a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place
Importing prohibited weapons/ammunition with intent to evade a prohibition/restriction
Magee has been remanded in custody and has appeared before Bristol Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 30 December).
Homes were evacuated as a 50m cordon was set up by police and the explosive team who searched the property over the weekend (28-29 Dec).
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed on Twitter they were not treating the incident as terror related.
