Lyra Cole, 6, has recorded her own version of ‘When a Child is Born’ and hopes the single will raise money to help fund vital research into brain tumours.

Initially misdiagnosed with a virus, doctors found a tumour the size of an orange on Lyra’s brain when she was just five months old.

She was then rushed to Frenchay Hospital where she spent 11 hours in emergency surgery.

Now six years later, Lyra and her family - who are from Highbridge - are determined to share their experience to help others.

The charity also says the disease kills more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.

All of the money raised through the sales of Lyra’s festive single will go to the charity.
