Teenager jailed for knife attacks

A teenager has been jailed for stabbing the same man in two separate attacks.

The 17 year old first stabbed his victim on Byron Street, Bristol in October 2018 causing injuries to his upper body and hip.

He was arrested and charged with affray and possession with a bladed article but attacked his victim a second time before appearing in court.

In the second incident, he stabbed his 19 year old victim in the chest at a pub on Stapleton Road this May.

He was again arrested and later charged with the assault and remanded in custody.

Last month, the teenager pleaded guilty to two counts of GBH and two counts of possessing an offensive weapon.

He was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court to nine and a half years.

Knife crime continues to be an issue across Avon and Somerset according to the force.

Police say they're using a number of approaches to help reduce the number of knives on the streets, including knife sweeps and education initiatives.
