Elderly woman in hospital after being hit by ambulance in Exeter

An elderly woman is in hospital after being hit by an ambulance while using a zebra crossing in Exeter.

The 88-year-old woman was seriously hurt as a result of the collision, which happened in Cowley Bridge Road on Friday (Nov 22) afternoon.

The ambulance was responding to an emergency call when it struck the woman on the crossing.

She was subsequently taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police, who are investigating the collision, said she remains in stable condition.

In a statement, South Western Ambulance Service said they are working with the police to help with their investigation.
