Man dies in 'industrial accident' on fishing boat in Newlyn Harbour

A man has died following an incident on a fishing boat at Newlyn Harbour in Cornwall.

The man, an employee fishing business W Stevenson & Sons, of is said to have been "involved in a safety incident" at the harbour.

Footage from the scene on Friday afternoon (15 November) shows numerous emergency services vehicles in attendance including the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Penlee Lifeboat posted on its Facebook page that Newlyn "was rocked by the news that a local young man lost his life".

Newlyn Harbour Master Rob Parsons offered "sincere condolences" to the man's family and friends.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the force had been called "at around 4.15pm today [..] following reports of an industrial incident on-board a vessel".

At least three fire engines, three police cars, and a land ambulance are also reported to have been at the scene in Newlyn Harbour.
