Man who fired shotgun in Castle Cary police stand-off guilty of firearms offence
A man who fired a shotgun during a standoff with police in the Somerset town of Castle Cary has been convicted.
Daniel Hannam was found guilty of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger after firing the weapon from a house in Castle Cary on January 23 earlier this year.
At Bristol Crown Court, Hannam, from Dorset, was cleared of two counts of attempted murder but found guilty of the firearms offence.
During the trial, the court heard from police officers involved in the siege who said they thought they were going to die when the 32-year-old opened fire.
Hannam will be sentenced at a later date.
