Bridgwater Carnival's opening night cancelled due to bad weather

Tonight's Grand Firework Display and Lantern Parade to mark the start of Bridgwater Carnival have been cancelled.

The organisers say it's because of safety concerns, caused by heavy rain and strong winds.

In a statement, the festival's organisers reassured people that tomorrow's (Saturday 2 November) festivities look set to go ahead as planned.
