Cornwall mining project could produce enough lithium to power 300,000 electric cars

A new mining project in Cornwall could produce enough Lithium to power more than 300,000 electric cars a year.

The exploration firm behind the project says it's found "exciting" levels of the metal at a test drilling site near St Austell and now wants to create a working quarry and production plant.

Lithium is in demand across the world for use in rechargeable batteries, including those found in mobile phones and electric cars.
