Mother of three left 'with nothing' after tower block fire in Plymouth
A mother and her three young children say they have been left with nothing after escaping from a fire in their top-floor flat in Plymouth.
A fire broke out in Bethany Williams' top floor flat on Sunday afternoon (8 September). Bethany and her three children, all under seven, have been left homeless and shellshocked.
The community in Barne Barton, where a nearby block was destroyed by a huge blazealmost exactly a year ago, is rallying round to help the family, who are hoping to move into emergency accommodation.
The fire is believed to have been started accidentally by an electrical device, but investigations continue. Bethany says she is still coming to terms with what happened and struggling to process her emotions.
This whole estate is about to see big changes, with demolition and regeneration on the horizon.
A fundraising campaign has been set up for Bethany and her family, and hundreds of people have offered to donate clothes and furniture.
Sanctuary Housing say they are offering support to Bethany and trying to help her to find alternative accommodation.
