Shop sign falls on woman's head in Bristol causing potentially life-threatening injuries
A shop sign has crashed onto a woman's head causing potentially life-threatening injuries.
The woman, who has not been named, was rushed to Southmead Hospital with a serious head injury after the incident which happened on Whiteladies Road in Bristol.
It happened at around 1.40pm on the Clifton side of the main road. The sign of the wardrobe and fitted furniture store Infiniti2 snapped in half and fell onto the passerby. It is reported to be made of wood and metal.
The woman suffered serious head injuries and is understood to have been knocked unconscious by the blow.
Lori Taylor, a first aider who helped the woman, said: "It was such a horrendous thing".
The shop owners had only just taken over the store and claim to be unaware of what previously happened with the sign.
A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Trust confirmed the woman suffered head injuries.
