A Banksy mural has been stolen in Paris, the second piece of artwork by the Bristol-based artist to be taken in the French city this year.

The masked rat with a knife was sprayed on the side of a carpark sign for the modern art museum, Pompidou.

The famous street artist stencilled it onto the metal in 2018.

Early on Monday morning it was discovered that thieves had cut through the metal, removing the art from the large sign.

The museum tweeted the news and says it is now filing a 'legal complaint'.

Earlier this year, another Banksy which paid tribute to the 89 victims of the 2015 terror attack, was stolen from the side of the Bataclan Theatre in Paris.

The veiled figure was painted onto the side of a fire-exit door at the theatre.

It was reported that thieves drove off with the door.
