A man proposed to his girlfriend in Brean with the help of a 300ft message written in sand.

Stefan Cahill popped the big question to long-term girlfriend Heidi Mason after asking a local artist to etch the words into the sand next to Brean Down.

Stefan took his unsuspecting girlfriend of four years for a walk along Brean Down on Thursday (August 15) afternoon while artist Simon Beck completed the 85m-wide mural below.

Thankfully for Stefan, who described the proposal as a “special moment”, Heidi said yes.

The couple, who are from Wythall in Birmingham, are already looking forward to their wedding.

Heidi said the proposal had left her “speechless”.
