The family of a young man who drowned at Cotswold Water Park last week have released a heartbreaking tribute to their “fun, caring and talented” loved one.

Cory Nicholson, 21, died after getting into difficulty in one of the lakes at the Cirencester attraction last Tuesday (July 23).

Other swimmers tried in vain to save the car mechanic before emergency services launched a full-scale search operation.

It had been reported that Mr Nicholson was searching the lake for a missing dog, but that has since been found not to be the case.

Mr Nicholson, who was from Marlborough but had recently moved to Calne, was described by loved ones as a “complete and utter family man”.

They said he loved nothing more than volunteering with the local fire service as well as helping out a charity supporting those with Down’s Syndrome.
