Redruth man jailed for seven years for human trafficking and managing brothels

A 34-year-old man from Redruth has been jailed for seven years for human trafficking and managing brothels in both Truro and Plymouth.

Sean Kang Wong was first arrested by police in September 2018 after a tip-off that he had trafficked a number of Chinese women in the UK, exploiting them to work in his brothels in New Bridge Street, Truro, and Battery Street, Plymouth.

On his arrest, police seized £38,000 from Wong.

Following an investigation, police found a second brothel in Plymouth and were able to link Wong to both establishments.

The 34-year-old of Tresaderns Road in Redruth, was today (26 July) sentenced at Truro Crown Court for Human Trafficking and Managing Brothels.

The conviction has been described as "one of the first" of its kind for Devon and Cornwall Police.
