A helicopter flypast, standard bearers and bugle player will now form part of the service for a D-Day veteran after an appeal was made for people to attend his funeral.

Sydney Walsh was a highly decorated serviceman with the Royal Navy. He died last month aged 97.

With only a small handful expected to attend the service in Yeovil, funeral director Stuart Foster made the plea on behalf of Mr Walsh's family.

Now hundreds are expected to turn out.
