Demolition of burnt out Premier Inn underway

The demolition of the Cribbs Causeway premier inn hotel is now underway after it was destroyed by a fire on Wednesday (July 17).

More than 60 firefighters were in attendance at the Premier Inn on Cribbs Causeway at the height of the fire.

On Friday morning, two days after the fire initially engulfed the hotel, the fire service continued to damp down the property.

The demolition manager said, "There is nothing left for it now, other than complete demolition".

Avon Fire and Rescue Service say at least eight crews attended the scene after a fire broke out on the third floor above a laundry room.

Emergency services declared a "major incident" on the evening of the fire due to the scale of the operation, as well as services being stretched already due to protests across the city.

It not known when the road will be reopened.
