Hundreds evacuated as firefighters called to Drake Circus in Plymouth

Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated from Drake Circus in Plymouth on Tuesday morning after fire crews were called to the shopping centre.

Devon and Somerset Fire Service were called at 11:20am and say smoke was reported to be coming from the HMV store on the ground floor of the centre.

Staff and customers at the shopping centre have since been allowed back inside.

Six appliances reported to the scene, but the operation has now been scaled back to two crews.
