Somerset's cricketers moved a step closer to claiming their first ever County Championship title with a crucial victory over Nottinghamshire on Tuesday.

The three-day win takes the Cidermen 15 points clear at the top of division one, with five games of the season remaining.

Their closest rivals Essex also won, thrashing Yorkshire at Chelmsford, to keep up the pressure on Tom Banton's side.

The two teams meet at Taunton for the final game of the season, which could be a nail-biting title decider.

Somerset's 132-run victory over Nottinghamshire was spearheaded by spin twins Jack Leach and Dom Bess.

The pair shared eight wickets in the first innings to secure a healthy lead, and combined again for six second innings scalps.
