Parachutist crashes into roof of Wiltshire house

A parachute glider has crashed onto the roof of a house in Amesbury.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue services said several crews were called to Downs View Close, Haxton, near Salisbury, just after 2pm on Sunday (July 7).

Specialist rope rescue teams from Trowbridge and Chippenham were called in to free the parachutist, with support from Amesbury, Salisbury and Pewsey fire crews.

The village is a short distance from Netheravon airfield which is home to the Army Parachute Association.
