A35 near Axminster closed after cyclist injured in van crash

The A35 near Axminster is closed until further notice following a crash involving a cyclist and a van.

Police say the Devon A-road is likely to be closed for the rest of the day after the incident, which was reported to them around 5.30am.

The collision happened between the B3261 at Kilmington and the B3165 Crewkerne Road at Harcombe, with the road closed in both directions at Raymonds Hill.

Officers described it as an ongoing incident and said paramedics were on the scene.

The cyclist is believed to have suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.

Highways England reports delays of up to 15 minutes covering “several miles of road”.

What are the diversions?

Traffic travelling eastbound is advised to exit the A35 onto the B3261 travelling along Trafalgar Way onto the A358 West Street. Then continue on the B3261 Lyme Road to re-join the A35.

Drivers heading westbound are advised to follow the route about but in reverse.
