Man dies after being pulled from water near Penzance

A man has died after being pulled from the water near Penzance.

Police confirmed a man in his 60s sadly died after being found in the water near the Promenade on Tuesday (July 2) evening.

A coastguard helicopter and RNLI lifeboat were both involved in the rescue, which unfolded around 5.20pm.

The male was winched from the lifeboat and airlifted to Treliske Hospital, where it was confirmed he had died.

Devon and Cornwall Police are yet to identity the man so that his next of kin can be informed.

The police spokesperson said enquiries will now continue into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
