Man arrested in Plymouth on suspicion of attempted kidnap
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap in Plymouth.
The incident is said to have taken place on the roundabout of Brest Road at 1.15pm today (Wednesday 3 July).
It is believed that a man in his 40s stopped at the roundabout in a silver Mercedes and proceeded to speak a woman in her 20s.
After engaging her in a short verbal exchange he grabbed her by the hair and attempted to drag her into the car.
The victim was able to leave the scene in safety and had no injuries.
It is reported that the silver Mercedes travelled from the direction of Tavistock Road and stopped at the central pedestrian island where the incident took place.
Officers successfully caught the vehicle in the Avon and Somerset force area after it left the scene in the direction of William Prance road.
The arrested man currently remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for the police says: “We’re now keen to speak to anyone who was in the area of Brest road at the time and may have relevant dashcam footage, and anyone with any information that may assist our investigation.”
