Pensioner stabbed to death in Kingsteignton in Devon

Police are investigating the possible link between a pensioner in Kingsteignton being stabbed to death, and a suspected suicide near Labrador Bay.

Officers responded to a call at 9.20pm on Sunday night [June 9], after a 73-year-old man was stabbed more than a dozen times.

One of his family members is thought to have witnessed the attack, and the victim is not thought to have known the killer.

The victim, who has still to be named, was taken to Torbay hospital where he was declared dead.

His next of kin have been told and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Superintendent Mike West has also confirmed officers are looking into a possible link between the attack and a second body found nearby.

A mans body was found in a car near Labrador Bay, Shaldon. Police are treating the death as suspected suicide, but are investigating the connection to the murder on Chockland Road.

Devon and Cornwall Police have said no one else was harmed during the incident.

They also admitted that this type of attack is 'rare' and that extra officers have been drafted in to identify the attacker.
